Welcome to the website of ‘Charlotte Bacon Eventing’. We are very much a team here and are grateful to all those who help make it possible, from loyal owners and sponsors to the home support team, headed up by Mum, Fiona, ably assisted by an excellent back-up of Vets, Grooms, Farriers, Trainers and Equine Physiotherapists all of whom make up ‘Team Bacon’.

International event rider, Charlotte Bacon is based in Shipton under Wychwood, Oxfordshire. Charlotte has represented Great Britain on three occasions and achieved European medal status on each of these.

From an early age Charlotte was brought up around horses, with a family background in eventing and hunting. During her younger years, Charlotte gained a broad knowledge of competition by competing at National Championships for each equestrian discipline dressage, showjumping and eventing. Charlotte’s first taste of international competition came with ‘Three Wells Breeze’, when they were selected to represent Great Britain at the European Pony Eventing Championships in 2012 and 2013. The combination were respectively part of the silver medal winning team in Fontainebleau, France (2012), they also collected team gold and finished 11th individually in Arezzo, Italy (2013).

Having left school with her focus on becoming a professional event rider, Charlotte spent time working for Chris and Zanie King, before basing herself with Irish Olympian, Aoife Clarke for the 2015 season. In this year Charlotte made the step up to Junior level riding Karen Huytons’ ‘Sannanvalley Justice’, in which they collected a team bronze medal for Great Britain at the Junior Championships in Bialy Bor, Poland.  The year culminated in Charlotte finishing 7th in the Goldman Cup League, she also gaining more valuable experience in Germany with Dirk Schrade and following a recommendation from British Eventing, was awarded a G.L.L. grant for athletes of ‘World Class Potential’.

In 2016 Charlotte made the step up to 3* aboard ‘Last Touch’ owned by Lucinda Froggatt. Age 18 Charlotte jumped double clear in the Event Riders Masters (ERM) Final at Blenheim Palace, before heading to Boekolo in Holland where the partnership completed their first CCI3*. Following this in 2017 Charlotte was accepted onto the British Equestrian Federation ‘Young Professional Programme’, funded by Sport England.  ‘Last Touch’ was named as first reserve for the GB Young Rider Squad and the combination also gained their CCI4* qualification, a level which they look forward to competing at in 2018.
